A Smoothie Bowl and A Hamilton Wave Action Blender

Right now we are smoothie bowl CRAZY over here in Jolly Tomato land. And our road to smoothie heaven has been much smoother (see what we did there?) thanks to our new Hamilton Beach Wave Action blender. Each day, we’ve enjoyed different combinations – and we’ve been thrilled with how well the blender smooth-ifies everything without frozen chunks getting stuck.

The Wave Action blender does such a good job because instead of just spinning the content around the walls of the blender, it forces the mixture down into the blades. When you watch it humming away, you can see all of your fruits and milks diving from the top straight down into the blades and getting pureed into perfect little smithereens. (For example, see how the yellow arrow below shows you how things move through the blender.)

Editor’s note: The blender giveaway has ended.

Even better, you can change it up however you like. Got a favorite fruit? Got a favorite veggie? Add it in there! And even if it’s frozen, it’ll still smooth out nicely.

I like to substitute frozen acai berries for the strawberrries to the rest of the ingredients posted in the recipe above.

I’ve also made a peachy one that uses (recipe above adapted for peach):

1 cup milk (or coconut or almond milk)
    1 cup yogurt
2 cups frozen fruit (Peaches, banana mango, etc.)
    1 cup leafy greens (optional)
    Toppings (optional; choose your favorite):
    Fresh fruit
    Granola
    Chia seeds
    Nuts
    Hemp seeds

Mango/Blueberry/Oatmeal/Chia Seeds/Juice/Yogurt/Ice – yum! In a glass with a wide glass straw; I’m sorry I can’t quite see the point of putting a smoothie in a bowl, seems like inviting a big mess.
