Do you love high-quality tomatoes? Of course you do, and so do we. That’s why we’re excited to announce our #ILoveSanMarzanoDOP tomato recipe contest.
Now that it’s fall and the holiday season is fast approaching, we’re shifting from fresh tomatoes to recipes that use European canned tomatoes. Specifically, we’re talking about the famous San Marzano or Pomodoro San Marzano dell’Agro Sarnese-Nocerino DOP tomatoes from Italy.
These exclusive red “peeled tomatoes” have an elongated cylindrical shape. They are grown and picked specifically for the can in the volcanic-rich Italian countryside of Agro Sarnese-Nocerino. And of course, the farmers pick them at the height of their ripeness and peak of flavor and texture.

For this tomato recipe contest, we’re looking for your best recipe featuring San Marzano or Pomodoro San Marzano dell’Agro Sarnese-Nocerino DOP tomatoes. The prize? An amazing gift basket filled with fine European food products. Plus we’re adding in a bonus: an extra gift basket for someone you know who could use a lift.
How the Tomato Recipe Contest Works
Here’s how it works:
- First, email us a description and picture of your favorite recipe that you’ve created using San Marzano DOP canned tomatoes. We must receive your email by midnight, November 20, 2020. The contest is open to residents of the United States ages 18 and over.
- Next, name a family, frontline worker, charity, hospital, or person who you feel could use a boost. In your email to us, explain why you chose them.
- Finally, we will pick a winner just before Thanksgiving. The prize? A beautiful delivery of delicious DOP products such as San Marzano dell’Agro Sarnese – Nocerino DOP tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, pasta etc. We’ll send a basket both to you and the person(s) you selected to surprise and honor.
