A Season of Giving With #adidas

It’s the beginning of our favorite time of year – the season of giving – when it’s more about giving back than receiving. During the holiday season, one of the causes that is nearest to our heart is the gift of food. That’s why our “giving back” is focused on working at the food banks and contributing to food drives. We’re also thankful for working with a brand like adidas that supports us in our efforts and keeps us comfortable when we’re on the go, wherever we choose to go.

Strength and Flexibility

If you’ve ever worked at a food bank or worked on food prep and distribution, you know that it takes a certain amount of strength and mobility. One recent day at the food bank had us staring down massive crates of donated apples and pears. In the line next to that there were huge boxes of donated bread, rolls, and other bread products. Our crew’s job was to sort and pack them for distribution to schools and community centers for easy meals.

This involved a lot of hands-on lifting and separating. We sorted out usable products and tossed the expired or moldy ones. Then we had to find matches and pack them in sets of ten in a box. Then we delivered the finished box to a waiting pallet.

Our teenager’s constant and reliable companion for this work was his favorite pair of adidas, the Busenitz Vulc shoes. These skate shoes have an ultra-flexible outsole and he describes them as “super-supportive” and “grippy,” which definitely helps with any big job. (Note that they come in orange and green shades that fit along with the Thanksgiving theme. He’s actually campaigning to wear them to Thanksgiving dinner too…)

Holding It All Together

Our other big boost for the season of giving came from our favorite adidas roll-top backpack. This lightweight backpack is amazingly flexible. It’s the perfect size for carrying around and organizing a few small things that you need when you volunteer, such your volunteer waivers and a pen or two.

But when you really need to carry a lot of stuff, it’ll surprise you with just how much it can hold. Pictured above: Our backpack stuffed full with six (!!!) large boxes of stuffing and mashed potatoes that we brought to a food drive. Here’s a peek inside with a few boxes removed. Note the interior zippered section that’s perfect for keys and ID.

All of this is to say that we’re going to keep up with our volunteer work throughout the “season of giving” and beyond – and while we do that, we want to give credit to the people and products that always give us a lift. Thank you, adidas, for keeping us going strong as we try to be strong for others.
