So we’ve enjoyed Melissa’s Clean Snax many times before, but when we tried the new flavor of Holiday Crunch Clean Snax we were blown away. These snacks are next level. They’re all of the things that you already like in Clean Snax (nuts, grains, seeds, dried fruits, plus gluten-free and no processed sugar) but with the addition of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. When we first tried them, we knew we needed to make them into a holiday dessert… Enter the Clean Snax Holiday Apple-Cranberry Crisp.
This is actually a super-fun recipe to make because it’s quick and it has a great kid participation element. Just hand your nearest mallet over to your nearest kid, and ask them to pound out all of his or her frustrations to crush the Clean Snax.
Start with peeled chopped apples, cranberries, sugar, spices, flour, and lemon juice.
Next crush the Clean Snax with a mallet.
Sprinkle the crushed Clean Snax over the apple mixture, and dot with butter.
Bake it… and it’s easy as pie, without being pie – the Clean Snax Holiday Apple-Cranberry Crisp.
Clean Snax Holiday Apple-Cranberry Crisp
An easy, tasty apple-cranberry crisp made with crushed Holiday Crunch Clean Snax.
- 1 3/4 pound Granny Smith apples
- 1 cup fresh or frozen whole cranberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 T flour
- 1 T lemon juice
- 1 6.5-ounce package Melissa's Holiday Crunch Clean Snax
- 2 T butter, chopped into small pieces
Peel and core the apples and coarsely chop them into 1/2 to 1-inch pieces. Add them to a mixing bowl along with the cranberries, sugar, cinnamon, flour, and lemon juice. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9-inch baking pan or pie plate.
Meanwhile, pour the contents of the package of Melissa's Holiday Crunch Clean Snax into a sturdy plastic bag. Using the flat side of a mallet, coarsely crush them until no large pieces remain. Pour the crushed Clean Snax over the fruit mixture in the pan. Dot the Clean Snax layer with small bits of butter.
Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes, or until bubbling and apples are soft. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Holiday party note: Sometimes you want to offer people bite-sized or portable options… For a recent holiday dessert party at Melissa’s we brought this apple crisp in individual portions. We simply used our favorite stand-up baking cups and divided the apples and topping evenly across the board. Pair it with some mini appetizer spoons (from the dollar store) and you have a simple and tasty party dessert!
