Do you love food, cooking, kids in the kitchen, and/or Twitter? Have we got a movie for you! We had a chance to check out an early screening of the new movie “Chef,” starring, written, and directed by Jon Favreau, and we were thoroughly entertained and positively famished by the end of the movie. It’s a visual banquet of mouth-watering food, mesmerizing knife skills, and all-around fun in the kitchen.
“Chef” tells the story of Carl Casper, a chef who loses his job after disagreeing with the owner of the restaurant about which direction the menu should take. (Chef wants groundbreaking and creative; owner wants traditional dishes that are guaranteed sellers.) Carl heads off to Miami, where he refurbishes an old food truck, transforms it into a Cuban sandwich truck, and embarks on an adventure driving back across the country with his best friend and his son, cooking food for appreciative crowds in every city. The movie also stars Scarlett Johansson, Sofia Vergara, Robert Downey Jr., Dustin Hoffman, John Leguizamo, and Oliver Platt.
Now come on, after watching that preview, don’t you want to see the movie? And eat a whole bunch of cubanos? “Chef” won the Heineken Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. It opens in select theaters on May 9.
Many thanks to Stouffer’s and The Moms for the delicious treats and the movie screening!
