Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped veggies (we used red, yellow, and orange peppers, plus red onions and celery)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 20 wonton wrappers (We used Twin Dragon brand)
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Saute the chopped veggies in the olive oil over medium heat, stirring frequently, for about 3 minutes, or until just softened.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sauteed vegetables, and garlic salt.

  3. Begin wrapping the wontons: Take one wonton wrapper, lay it out on a flat surface, and place one rounded teaspoonful of filling into the center. Dot the four sides of the wonton wrapper with a little bit of water. Bring two opposite corners together, pinch shut, and then bring the other two corners together and pinch shut. Carefully pinch together all of the seams, making sure to squeeze out any air between the filling and the wrapper. The end result should look like an "x" from the top.

  4. Prepare a deep fryer or heat approximately two inches of oil in a frying pan. Heat the oil until very hot and sizzling when a drop of water is placed in the pan. Drop wontons into the oil, cooking for about 3 minutes on each side. Remove from pan or fryer with a slotted spoon or tongs and place on a paper towel. Serve while hot.
