Ingredients

  • 5 medium lemons I used 3 extra-large
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 cups water
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Slice the lemons. Place half of the lemon slices in a large pitcher, layer with half the sugar, then add the remaining lemon slices on top, then sprinkle on the remaining sugar.
  2. Using a wooden spoon, gently press down on the lemons to release the juice, stirring the lemon slices and sugar so that the mixture is well combined. Allow the lemon/sugar mixture to sit for 15 minutes (but no longer)
  3. Following the 15 minutes, fill the pitcher with the water and stir. Remove all but two or three of the lemon slices. Add ice and serve.
