Ingredients
1vanilla cake mixbatter prepared as on box
5applespreferably of different varieties (We used Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Yellow Delicious, and Fuji), peeled, cored, and sliced
2Tsugar
1tsp.cinnamon
2tsp.flour
For the frosting:
1/2cupbuttersoftened
2 1/2cupspowdered sugar
1/4cuppureed pumpkin
Instructions
Prepare the vanilla cake batter according to package directions. In a separate bowl, combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Gently stir the apples in with the cake batter. Pour the batter into a greased 13x9" glass pan. Bake according to package directions (typically 350 degrees for 35 minutes). Remove from oven and cool.
Prepare the frosting: Cream the butter, add sugar and pumpkin and beat until smooth. Spread evenly over cooled cake. Cut into squares and serve.
