Save the Fruits and Veggies!

Chances are you’ve heard the news about the new study casting doubt on whether the old “five a day” rule for fruits and vegetables really reduces cancer risk. But please don’t stop serving those carrot sticks and broccoli spears. Sure, they may not have the miraculous cancer-reducing powers we thought they did. But they are still an important part of the picture of overall health. Fresh fruits and vegetables give your kids important nutrients for growth and fiber for digestion. In fact, they are an essential part of a healthy diet that can combat the problem of childhood obesity. So don’t let a single study change your attitude about fruits and vegetables (in fact, that’s probably good advice for just about any study). Now put away those chips and go pass the celery sticks instead.
