We mostly talk about healthy eating here at Jolly Tomato, but there’s another component of a healthy lifestyle that’s also important, and that’s healthy family fun. And if you’re looking for a good, wholesome treat for the entire family, you can look no further than LEGOLAND California, where the new 4D LEGO movie (opening February 6) promises a fun adventure story that’ll make you laugh and even get a little bit “misty” (more on that in a moment).
The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” answers the question – What happens after “The LEGO Movie” ends? It follows a new journey for main characters Emmet, Wyldstyle, Benny, Unikitty, and MetalBeard after they receive a mysterious invitation leading them to a new theme park. But not all is as it seems as the heroes are once again thrust into the middle of an evil secret plot, only this time, it will be up to the audience to use their Master Builder skills to help save them.
The movie is not at all scary and is appropriate for all ages, although some of the humor may be lost on kids. (Example: cracks about how the new hero, Risky Business – voiced by Patton Oswalt – is “much less expensive” than his ‘brother’ President Business from the original LEGO movie, voiced by Will Ferrell). And consider yourself warned: While you’re watching the movie and enjoying its thrills and chills, you may find yourself bracing yourself against the wind, waving away a cloud of fog, or even dashing drops of “lemon water” that fall down from the sky.
The 12-and-a-half minute film will be shown several times per day in the LEGO Showplace Theater, which recently underwent a transformation in preparation for the new attraction with new door design, movie theater artwork and an expanded entrance area. There’s no additional fee for the movie; it’s included in the park entrance fee.
Now for the important question: What will you eat when you’re there?
Of course there’s real food – and it’s good food. Check out this Marketplace cart filled with healthy fruits (including locally picked strawberries):
Other tasty and healthy options include Wok N Bowl Ramen, a Japanese-style ramen house featuring freshly prepared stir-fry dishes; and The Garden Restaurant, which features gourmet sandwiches, homemade soups and salads.
Got special dietary needs (gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, food allergies, etc.)? LEGOLAND has you covered. Check here for their dietary chart of in-park dining options. Also, it’s worth noting that all food at LEGOLAND is made inside their restaurants – there is no commissary, factory-made, or pre-prepped goods in their kitchens.
Cheers to that! See you at the movies!
