Last-Minute Stocking Stuffers for Cooks

Do you need some last-minute stocking stuffers for your favorite cook? We know, you’re running around and it’s the very last minute. It seems like there’s always one more gift exchange to shop for, and gosh darn it, we have so been there and we are right there with you. That’s why we’ve put together a little list of these mini-gifts for your favorite chefs and aspiring chefs. These are all quick, easy, and in most cases safe enough even for little(r) hands:

stocking stuffers

Customizable Cookie Stamp: A cookie stamp is lots of fun – you can move the letters and characters around to make your own personal message. And it’s safe and easy to use for even little hands (though you’ll want to be careful with all of those loose characters). Tips: It works best when the dough is firm, cold, and not rolled too thin. Also, remember to spell out your message backwards in the stamp so that it prints forwards when you stamp it. (We already made that mistake so you don’t have to!).

Herb Stripper: This kale, chard, collard greens, and herb stripper from Chef’n is handy for just about anyone. But it’s especially handy for putting kids to work in the kitchen. Oh, and it’s dishwasher safe too – easy peasy. Just $4.97 on Amazon, plus free one-day shipping.

Local honey: We’re not kidding! Stuff the stockings with this all-natural, all-local, one-ingredient gift. The National Honey Board’s Honey Locator is a good starting place. Many hyper-local ones are not on the list, so make sure you check around your neighborhood too. Extra bonus: No shipping and handling costs involved for this sweet gift.

Food decorating pen: This could be your (or your kid’s) new favorite kitchen toy. Use it to write or decorate with frosting, melted chocolate, honey (see above), or special sauces.

Herb scissors: These are just plain fun to have around the house. And when you ask your kids to cut herbs with herb scissors, they may not want to stop. (You might just find them trolling around the kitchen looking for other things to cut.)

Mushroom farm: Get “back to the roots” with this fun mushroom-growing kit. We’ve tried it and it’s fun because the mushrooms grow quickly and the final product tastes great. Who needs an ant farm when you can actually grow something useful and delicious?

Mason jar ceramic measuring spoons: Because everyone can use measuring spoons. And how can you go wrong with this cuteness?

Donation: Last but not least, make your kitchen stocking stuffer a gift that lasts by making a contribution to a food-related charity. Some of our favorites include those that deal with child hunger, including No Kid Hungry and Feeding America. To make a bigger local impact, consider a donation to your local food bank.

Got your shopping done now? OK, time to relax and enjoy the holidays – wishing you and yours all the best!
