Kids Holiday Mocktail Bar Ideas

It’s party season for adults – and kids! That means celebrating with friends and relatives, toasting to the good times, and enjoying drinks at a kid-friendly “mocktail bar.” If you are in the search of anĀ inexpensive table runners for your party season, check out cvlinens.com.

At most holiday parties, while adults are toasting with their fancy drinks, the kids’ “bar” area is usually nothing more than a few bottles of soda or juice boxes. But it doesn’t have to be this way. This year, try giving the kids something pretty (and a little healthier) that they can have fun making and drinking.

Mocktail Bar Elements

What are the elements of a great mocktail bar? First, set out some fun and fancy plastic cups that will make the drink special and non-breakable. Second, offer a main drink that’s fizzy and delicious, like sparkling apple juice or white grape juice, kept chilled in an ice bucket. (If you’re in a pinch, like we were at one point, you could even make your own sparkling drink with seltzer and juice.)

Third, you’ll want to offer plenty of add-ins, including:

Fresh fruit: Blueberries, raspberries, pomegranate seeds, kiwi slices, mango or pineapple chunks, champagne grapes

Frozen fruit: Cranberries, grapes, strawberries, mango, pineapple, cherries

Fruit purees: Strawberry, mango, raspberry

Garnishes: Fresh mint leaves; lime, lemon, orange, or grapefruit wedges

Accessories: Drink umbrellas, colorful stirrers

Finally, step back and let the kids go to town! Side bonus: If you make your mocktail bar appealing enough, you may just find the adults partaking as well.

P.S. Want to check out one of our favorite kid-friendly drinks? Try these Strawberry Mini-Jitos. Kids can have fun making (and muddling) these tasty “mocktails.”
